BARRETT LUDY

Barrett Ludy

Bayway Liquors

While pursuing an undergraduate degree in French and Spanish at Valparaiso University, Barrett developed a passion for all things wine. Studying abroad in Granada, Spain, gave him an enthusiasm for Spanish culture, food, and, of course, wine. In college, he also apprenticed under a classically-trained chef. After graduating, he worked as a chef before becoming a store manager for a wine store in Indiana.

In 2009, he moved to New Jersey taking a position as a Wine Manager for Bayway World of Liquor. In 2010, following rigorous testing by the London Court of Master Sommeliers, Barrett earned the title of "Certified Sommelier." In 2011, he was invited to compete in the Chaine des Rotisseurs' "Best Young Sommelier in the Nation Competition." The Societe Mondiale du Vin named him the "Best Young Sommelier in the Mid-Atlantic." He competed and placed in the top 8 for the title of "Best Young Sommelier in the Nation" in June. The future is bright for this young sommelier.
