TROY WEISSMANN
Among New York’s most talented and ambitious sommeliers,
Troy Weissmann is delighted to have found a home at the prestigious
154 South Gate (154 Central Park South, 212.484.4715). A passionate
and committed student of wine and food pairing, Weissmann is eager to
share his knowledge and expertise with guests at Central Park South’s
most exiting new address.
Having had the privileged experience to work with such talented chefs
as Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Waldy Malouf and Geoffrey Zakarian, Weissmann
is expertly qualified to select the perfect wines to complement Executive
Chef Kerry Heffernan’s outstanding seasonal American fare.
A strong advocate of the ever-evolving and sometimes avant-garde future
of the wine industry, Weissmann is also a disciplined practitioner of
the classical school. He brings with him over 10 years of wine and culinary
excellence, and is credulously open to every opportunity to enhance
each guest’s dining experience with a perfectly chosen bottle.
Previously a student of the American Sommelier Association, Weissmann
now teaches classes on the Loire Valley and Bordeaux regions for the
organization. He was a finalist in the 2007 Best Sommelier in America
competition and is a candidate for the esteemed Master Sommelier diploma.
He continues to believe, however, that the most important education
comes from hands-on experience, travel and perseverance. Regular trips,
from Chile to Burgundy to New York’s own backyard on the North Fork
of Long Island, have aided in forging Weissmann’s comprehensive knowledge
of viticulture and vinification.
Above all, Weissmann believes that wine is best enjoyed with good company,
engaging conversation, excellent food and the occasional cigar.
